studioplusthree commissioned by National Gallery of Australia

Our studio was recently commissioned by the National Gallery of Australia to produce an illustration for the Sculpture Gardens, originally designed in 1979 by Harry Howard and Barbara Buchanan as a series of seasonal outdoor spaces to experience art.

To capture the extent of these artworks and surrounding landscape, the illustration eschews the european tradition of linear perspective for representing space prevalent since the renaissance, instead drawing on the planar projection technique found in classical asian art for depicting vast landscapes and urban scenes.

We look forward to this work becoming part of the visitor experience of the NGA soon.
